Drinking games are the best way to turn an average night into a legendary one. Nothing gets a party started like a round of flip cup or beer pong tournament. If you’ve only got yourself and a friend hanging out, don’t worry! You can still play some awesome drinking games with just two people.

In this article, I’ll share the seven best drinking card games for two people. All these games require are a deck of cards, a positive attitude, and a cold drink or three, so get ready to turn your humdrum night-in into a night to remember.

#1: Higher/Lower

It can’t get any simpler than higher/lower. In this game, the dealer turns over a card from the top of the deck. The other player guesses whether the next card will be higher or lower than the card the dealer turned over. If the other player is right, the dealer drinks. If the other player is wrong, then he or she drinks.

#2: Go Fish

Do you remember playing Go Fish as a kid? Trust me, it’s infinitely more fun as an adult with beer.

Both players start with five cards. You try to build stacks of four-of-a-kind by asking the other player if they have a card you need. If they don’t, they tell you to go fish, and you must draw from the extra cards. If you get the card you’re looking for, you get to draw again.

Every time you or your other player make a stack of four-of-a-kind, the player who didn’t make the stack takes a drink.

#3: War

In war, each player receives half the deck. You flip over your cards at the same time. The player with the higher card takes both cards and puts them at the bottom of his or her stack. The player who loses takes a drink.

If you flip over cards of the same rank, both of you will put down one card face down and one card face up. The player with the higher cards takes all six cards that are out for the turn. The player who loses takes two drinks. Keep playing until all the cards are gone…or until you can’t sit straight.

#4: Drunken Uno

For Drunken Uno, you’ll need a set of uno cards as opposed to a normal deck of cards. To begin with, the dealer will deal seven cards to each player, then flip one card over.

When it’s your turn, you must play a card that matches the top card on the discard pile in number, color, or symbol. If you don’t have a card, you have to draw a card and drink.

Here are some extra special rules for Drunken Uno that’ll get the party going, fast. You can choose whether or not you want to add these rules.

  1. Whenever a draw 2 card comes up, the other player loses his or her turn and has to drink.
  2. If you lose your turn because of a Reverse or Skip card, you drink.
  3. If you draw a Draw 4 card, the other player has to take four drinks.

#5: SnapShot

SnapShot is one of the most fun, quick moving drinking games for two with cards. To play SnapShot, you’ll divide a deck evenly between yourself and your friend. Every round, you and your friend will place a card from the top of each deck face down in the middle of the player, then flip the cards over at the same time.

Keep placing and flipping cards until two cards of the same value are played. The first player to shout “Snap!” and place his or her hand on the pile wins all the cards. The player who doesn’t shout “Snap!” quickly enough has to take a shot.

#6: Color Blind

To play Color Blind, make sure you have a full deck of cards, including jokers. Shuffle the deck, and place it in the center of the table.

First, you’ll draw a card without showing it to your friend, who has to guess the color of the card. If your friend gets it right, you drink. If your friend gets it wrong, he or she drinks. Place the card in your friend’s pile. Keep drawing until both Jokers have been found. If either you or your friend get both of the Jokers, you have to take two shots. Otherwise, you each take one shot.

#7: The Lady Has the Deck

The Lady Has the Deck is one of the most simple and fun drinking card games for two players, guaranteed to get the party going quickly.

To start, shuffle a deck of cards and remove three of the queens. After the queens are removed, you and your friend will each take turns drawing a card until one of you gets the queen. When you get the queen, you can do one of three things: take a shot, answer a truth or dare question, or drink a nasty concoction you have prepared ahead of time. Re-shuffle the deck, and start again.
